“A fire that started at a vacant house at 39 Old Morton St. around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday spread to seven neighboring buildings near the Dorchester-Mattapan border. Its cause is still under investigation.
The Boston Fire Department struck a ninth alarm around 5:30 pm. Fire was already heavy when firefighters responded, officials said. The 37-39 Old Morton St. property is a 5,264-square foot multi-unit house which was under construction on a residential Mattapan block.
No one was injured in the house initially, officials said. Firefighters were overhauling the buildings just past 7 p.m., after the fire was knocked down.”
